Each year on 星空传媒鈥檚 Day of Giving, the university鈥檚 college and seven schools, athletic teams, and student organizations join together to generate financial support for student scholarships through campaign-style, online fundraising.
This year, for the first time in 星空传媒 history, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences raised the highest amount of any group on campus with $341,786. With 175 donors, representing a 29% increase in participation from 2024, the school generated 32% percent of the approximate total of $917,000 raised across the university. The Mandel School raised more than $67,000 last year and $65,000 the year prior, ranking number two and number one respectively among all academic units.
鈥淭hese results reflect more than just numbers鈥攖hey speak to the growing strength of our community, friends, alumni, staff, faculty and philanthropy,鈥 said Dean Dexter Voisin. 鈥淚t is a manifestation that people are connecting with our mission and inspired by our students. Without doubt, this development milestone was energized by the Mandel Foundation鈥檚 $5 million grant, which has inspired increased philanthropy.鈥
Said John Yankey, the Leonard W. Mayo Professor Emeritus and former dean of the Mandel School: "Thanks to Dean Voisin for his outstanding leadership of the school. This Day of Giving accomplishment magnifies and underscores all he has done to strengthen relationships with alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of the school."
