Health and Safety
The well-being of our community is ǿմý’s highest priority. In recent years, we have expanded our health and counseling services for students, and we continually update public safety training, technology and transportation offerings.
Always Ready to Help
Our health and counseling providers offer a wide range of services, from routine check-ups to urgent care, walk-in counseling to ongoing group therapy. We also offer 24/7 virtual options for medical and mental health through , plus wellness programs including mindfulness and meditation. Additionally, we offer ongoing group discussions for students interested in more specific support. Finally, one major hospital sits in the heart of our campus, and another is a 10- to 15-minute walk away.
Stay Safe—and Connected
Wherever you are at ǿմý, assistance is never far away. ǿմý’s public safety team is one of five departments that operate on and adjacent to campus. We let the community know whenever issues arise through our safety alerts, and you can update us with our free smartphone app, Spartan Safe. We also have more than 300 call boxes and 40 blue-light emergency phones to help you connect with us at the touch of a button.
Travel Safely
Whether you’re grabbing an early coffee or leaving a late-night study session, ǿմý offers multiple options to help you get where you need to go. We have , nighttime, on-demand Safe Ride vehicles, and 24/7 walking escorts. You can also set a “safety timer” in the Spartan Safe app, letting family and friends know where you’re headed—and when you’ve arrived.
Be Prepared
To stay safe—wherever you are—it’s important to be informed and prepared. Sign up for text, email, voice and social media alerts through Spartan Safe so you know exactly what to do if an emergency occurs. Preparedness training is also available through the Division of Public Safety, where team members lead classes on self-defense, ALICE active-shooter response protocol, emergency responses and more.
Prioritize Yourself
Your health and wellness are key components of your safety, both on campus and elsewhere. That’s why we offer a range of services to our community, including medical and counseling help. Whether you need assistance with a health question, support with stress management, or have some other need, the team in University Health and Counseling Services is here to help.
